Client Background

CAM is a window cleaning business committed to developing a robust and credible approach to sustainability management.

The organisation wanted to understand the maturity of its existing sustainability practices, gain an independent benchmark of its performance and identify clear actions for continued improvement. EcoVadis was selected as the assessment framework due to its global recognition and its focus on four key sustainability themes: Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement

The Challenge

CAM had already established strong sustainability practices across the business. However, it needed support to organise its existing evidence, assess its approach against EcoVadis requirements and ensure its documentation clearly demonstrated its performance.

The organisation needed to:

Understand its current sustainability maturity against a recognised rating framework.
Identify gaps in policies, data, procedures and supporting evidence.
Coordinate information across the four EcoVadis assessment themes.
Complete the EcoVadis questionnaire accurately and confidently.
Create a clear basis for ongoing sustainability improvement.

Our Approach

Over a six-month period, AORA worked closely with CAM’s representative team to assess its existing sustainability management practices, organise evidence and prepare its EcoVadis submission.

The process was designed not only to support a successful assessment, but also to give CAM a structured view of its strengths and opportunities for improvement.

1. Evidence Review and Gap Analysis

We reviewed CAM’s existing policies, procedures, certifications and performance data across the four EcoVadis themes:

Environment
Labour and Human Rights
Ethics
Sustainable Procurement

The review included 12 months of relevant data, existing management documents and supplier sustainability practices. We identified any missing, outdated or insufficient evidence and developed a prioritised list of actions to address the gaps.

2. Policy and Documentation Development

Following the gap analysis, we reviewed and strengthened CAM’s sustainability documentation where required.

This included updating existing policies and developing supporting materials to ensure that CAM’s sustainability commitments, management processes and performance could be clearly evidenced within the EcoVadis assessment.

3. EcoVadis Questionnaire and Submission

AORA supported CAM throughout the EcoVadis registration, company-profile set-up and assessment process.

We mapped available documentation against the relevant EcoVadis criteria, supported completion of the questionnaire and aligned each response with appropriate evidence. A final quality review was completed before submission to ensure the assessment was accurate, consistent and fully supported.

4.Scorecard Review and Next Steps

Following submission, EcoVadis verified the information provided and issued CAM’s sustainability scorecard.

We supported CAM in reviewing the results and identifying how the scorecard recommendations could be used to strengthen its sustainability management approach over time.

The role of purpose in shaping culture, decisions, and long-term impact

This created a shared understanding of why purpose matters as a strategic foundation

The Outcome

CAM achieved an EcoVadis Platinum Medal, placing the business in the top 1% of companies assessed by EcoVadis.

The result provided independent recognition of CAM’s sustainability performance and a credible benchmark that can support customer engagement, tender responses and wider stakeholder communication.

CAM also received a detailed scorecard that provides a structured basis for continued improvement across the four sustainability themes.
